Earl’s Tin Palace Mural: SAMARA
The Earl’s design and build team contacted me to design and hand paint the mural in the lounge of Earl’s Tin Palace in Edmonton, Canada.
A collaboration between Earl’s design team and myself on colours, shape and forms led to the SAMARA mural. Using bright greens, creamsicle oranges, a delicious citron and crisp black and white it’s all about grids, twists and friendly curves and angles. The shapes recall a samara leaf when it spins away from the tree. The mural took 45 hours of solo technical painting over 6 days, and used more painters tape than you can probably even imagine.
The design is based on one of my abstract modern greeting card designs for my surface design project, Mezzaluna Studio.
